In line with the change of corporate strategy shift away from fossil fuels and towards lower carbon energy systems, I am pleased to announce revised responsibilities for our management team, to give proper focus on the new energy opportunities.
Andy Howard is now the focal point for low carbon energy in the new role of Energy Transition Manager. He will develop the strategy for the energy transition, and lead the collaboration with sister Sumitomo companies to position for involvement in UK decarbonisation projects, including blue hydrogen and offshore electrification.
Russell Exley, in his new role as Portfolio and Exploration Manager, continues to manage Summit’s exploration portfolio, but is also charged with adding carbon storage and geothermal licences to the portfolio.
Pete Clitheroe, in his new role as Technical Resources Manager, will continue to be responsible for our producing assets, and will expand his business development responsibilities to include the new energy opportunities.
At this important point in the development of Sumitomo’s ambitions to meet its net zero 2050 target, it is pleasing to make these changes to Summit’s strategy and direction, and we continue to seek opportunities to become a significant player in the development of the UK’s new low carbon energy businesses in the 2020’s and beyond.
