Kevin Smith has over 30 years of industry experience spanning the continental U.S., offshore Gulf of Mexico, Australia, Africa, Brazil, China, Malaysia, and the North Sea. He joined Summit in April 2008 as engineering manager and was named CEO in May 2010.
Prior to joining Summit, Kevin served as engineering manager for Newfield Petroleum UK and as a reservoir engineer for other U.S. based independents – Hunt Energy, American Exploration, and Louis Dreyfus Natural Gas.
Kevin holds BSc and MSc degrees in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University. While at university, he was a National Merit scholar and a member of Pi Epsilon Tau, the Honour Society of Petroleum Engineers. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Texas and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
Satoru Sugiura joined the Summit team in April 2012. Prior to joining Summit, Satoru served as E&P business development manager for Sumitomo Corporation, Tokyo, to cover the rest of the world beyond UK, focusing on Asian Pacific, South America, Sub-Sahara regions.
In addition to the 5 years of the oil & gas upstream business experience, Satoru has over 20 years of the structured finance experience in the oil and infrastructure industries, especially for Mexico and Brazil. In 1990s and 2000s, he was assigned as director of Sumitomo Corporation’s affiliates in Venezuela and Argentina respectively.
Tadashi Fujimagari has 40 years experience in the oil and gas industry and has held a number of senior technical and commercial roles within Sumitomo’s E & P business.
These roles included being posted to Oman and UK. Fuji has been assuming the CEO of Petro Summit E & P Corporation since 2008, a sister company of Summit in Japan.
Fuji holds a BSc in geology from Tohoku Univesity (Japan) and an ingénieur diploma in petroleum geology from l’École Nationale Supérieure du Pétrole et des Moteurs (France).
Kenji Okayasu joined the Summit E & P Board in 2016.
Kenji is currently the Deputy General Manager of the E & P and Natural Gas Business Department, Petroleum Upstream Investment at Sumitomo Corporation.
Kenji holds a Bachelors in Ecomonics from Keio Univesity (Japan) and an MBA in Business Administration from Manchester Business School.
Wataru Sato joined the Summit team in March 2015.
Prior to joining Summit, Wataru served as E&P business development manager for Sumitomo Corporation, Tokyo.
Wataru has over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industries, including oil products trading, LNG project development and E&P upstream business.
